So, I haven’t blogged in awhile. I really need to get with the program and try to make blogging a priority but it’s just one of those things that gets pushed to the back while everyday life takes precedence. We’ve been busy around here with our awesome Valentine’s Day Boudoir Shoot, the Muncie Bridal Show and an upcoming weekend long event I’m shooting for Muncie Habitat for Humanity.
The Valentine’s Day Boudoir shoot, hum what can I say… I LOVED IT! We had a fabulous Saturday of girl talk, getting pretty with airbrush makeup, listening to Pandora on the Morcheeba channel, drinking wine while doing romantic photo shoots for an unexpected Valentine’s Day present! The day of is a gift to yourself…the final product is a gift for him! Every girl loves to pamper themselves and just get all dolled up for the day. The make-up and hair styles were created by Ashley Chambers, owner of Eye Candy Beauty Design. Ashley also graciously let me take over half of her salon for the shoot. We moved in furniture courtesy of A Furniture and Bedding Showcase and transformed her salon into a sexy bedroom with some gorgeous modern chairs too. Then added fabulous Valentine’s Day inspired floral arrangements for the finishing touches, compliments of Dandelions Flowers and Gifts. We’ll be doing it again soon so send me an email if you want to be invited to the next one! I’m in the process of looking for a bigger location, Eye Candy’s space is full of awesome stylists now! The next Boudoir dates will be announced soon! Just a little FYI, I’ll be adding a Boudoir section to my website soon if you’d like to get an idea of what Boudoir is (Kishel style). It’s tasteful, romantic, artistic and fun!
Our next big adventure was the Muncie Bridal Show and the Horizon Convention Center. Thanks to everyone who came out and checked out our new products, wedding albums, engagement books, canvasses, save the date cards…pretty much anything you could want for your wedding (image inspired) we have! It was fun to see previous brides, some of which got to see their actual wedding products on my table as my studio samples. That’s always fun to know your wedding is being shown off to others! I had fun with my girls talking about wedding stuff to all the brides trying to get their wedding details worked out. If you stopped by feel free to contact me with any questions you have! Also, we’ve got a special gift for you if you were at the show and book Kishel Photography by March 3rd!! Saturday wedding dates are nearly full for this year so if you’re thinking about booking us call to check if your date is still available.
So, the next big project I’ll chat about briefly but will blog about in more detail later. I’m so excited about the weekend of March 12,13 and 14th. I’m setting aside the entire weekend to donate all session fees and 20% of all sales to Muncie Habitat for Humanity. It’s going to be a full weekend of non-stop sessions…families, children, couples, pets, maternity, newborn~ whatever you want photographed! We’re going to transform the Habitat Home Discount Center’s front room into 4 different sets to photograph in. It’ll be Kishel Photography, Dandelions Flowers and Gifts, Jack Camera Shop and Gill Brothers Furniture all coming together to create an amazing place for the photo shoots. The sessions are by appointment only, call Habitat 765.289.5739 to schedule your time. It’s only 1 weekend, so call soon, I’m sure the sessions will fill quickly! Help give Habitat families the gift of home while decorating your own walls at home with updated family portraits.
So, that’s what is going on here behind my lens! I swear I’m going to start blogging more often! TTYL!!
I love October weddings. I love the weather, I love the colors, I love the attitudes of the fall season. Everything is gorgeous colors, cozy chilly weather and people are in the beginnings of their holiday attitudes. At the start of wedding season I begin to get excited for the October weddings! When I first met Katie and Isaac I knew we’d work great together. They’re creative, artistic, romantic people who wanted me to capture their wedding day as I saw it. They didn’t come into the meeting with a pre-idea of what I was ‘supposed’ to shoot. They wanted their wedding images to look like no one elses, their album to be one of a kind, their experience to be as unique as they are. Plus, they were having an October wedding!! My kind of people!! Once we started chatting I knew we’d have more than just a working relationship. If you remember back to their engagement session blog we were able to get into Morton’s pub to shoot. It’s the birth place of the romance and has since closed. To me that is SO Isaac and Katie, they’re all about creating the memories, the sentiment and keeping the emotions alive. Their wedding was full of the little details. All three of Katie’s grandmothers had a special gift for her to carry with her. Her necklace, her earrings and her handkerchief were all special. Isaac’s mother was there in the beginning to help him get ready, pin on the boutonniere and finish off the outfit with a hug only a mom can give before he headed out the door to marry his princess. I could go on and on about the small details that made a big impact on their wedding day. They were married in church, absolutely gorgeous I must add. When I walked in I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t decide where to start with their photographs, I wanted to check out every corner of that church, it was that amazing! After the service we headed out the back door, to the alley just outside. Luckily it was perfect and we didn’t have to go too far because it was chilly and a little breezy for spaghetti strapped, flowing bridesmaids dresses! The wedding party was up for any and all of my crazy ideas. Big Thanks to Beth for being willing to lay on the ground for the best wedding party shot! After we ran around outside~ for about 3 minutes (it was cold) we decided to go back in the church to finish with the bride and groom portraits. After the pictures were finished we were off to the reception at the Delaware County Country Club. When we arrived the guests were already enjoying themselves. The reception was gorgeous, romantic, emotional and full of unique events that show Katie and Isaac’s creativity. Instead of a mother/son dance, Isaac played guitar and sang a song his mother loved to her. The groom also played a funny little set with a friend with a little comedy skit in the middle. Instead of a DJ or band they had musically talented friends take turns entertaining the guests. It was definitely a good mix of fun, togetherness and talent. Lastly, I can’t post this blog without talking about Katie’s dad’s speech about his little girl. He started out strong, talking about memories, family events, Katie as a little girl. It was so heartfelt so sweet, I was so wrapped up in the emotion I almost forgot I hadn’t know her family for years. I turned the camera towards Katie’s mom… she’s crying, towards Katie’s sister, the maid of honor… she’s crying, towards Katie… she’s doing good. Then her and I make eye contact and she’s learns I’m crying! Not uncommon during the father daughter dance for me but during the speech I’m usually pretty solid. After all the events of the night we said our good-byes to the bride and groom and headed off to get started on their fabulous images. Katie and Isaac I’m so excited that you both chose me to photograph your wedding day. It was as unique as your love and full of romance, emotions and strong family bonds. You two are sure to have a perfect life together. I can’t wait to watch it unfold through the years.
