After this fun/crazy/busy/chillaxin’ (compliments of Logan) weekend I can definitely understand the obsession with New York City. The traffic is annoying, the people are unpredictable, the hustle is energizing and the city is addicting. I found myself constantly wondering about those walking next to me on the streets… what are thinking about, where are they going, do they live here or are they visiting, what’s their story? I became so fascinated by all the randomness that it started to make me wish I had more time to see learn what New York was really all about. I have to say, I’ve had the best tour guides who have been up for anything and everything, which is always excellent! Plus, the fact that I was hired to have my camera out the entire trip to document the trip for them is amazing! Could I have had any better luck? Come to New York alone. Not that I wouldn’t love to experience this with my husband but being with my husband also means being with our 4 year old and this is not a place for little ones. I’m sure I would have had a zillion heart attacks if I had to stress about keeping him safe as well. This trip was fabulous not only because I got to share the time with a fabulous 2010 wedding couple but was forced to concentrate on my art only… not any other thing in the world to think about. It’s been very inspiring to think only of creating images and concentrate on making amazing photographs for an entire four days! I’m sure I couldn’t mention all the places we went to/through/around….Times Square, Wall Street, SoHo, Greenwhich Village, Ground Zero, 5th Ave., Grand Central Station, Central Park, Ladder 8, Madison Square Gardens, St. Patrick’s Cathedral… I know I’m forgetting lots of other fabulous spots. Some of my favorite images are from a few amazing buildings we just happened to find. A million thanks to the awesome Police Officer who moved some orange cones out of the road for me to shoot in front of the gorgeous New York Federal Reserve building. Also want to give a thanks to the Doorman, next to Jimmy Choo who let us park in the ‘no parking’ spot in front of his building so we could hop out and make some stunning images in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Without the help of these nice New Yorkers some of my favorite images from the engagement shoot would have been impossible (Have you heard about parking in NYC? Ridiculous. Period.) Sunday we went off to the Top of the Rock to shoot some amazing images from the view on top of Rockafeller Center. The entire building was amazingly gorgeous, sponsorded by Swarovski how cold it not be. I had a million ideas for some awesome engagement pictures, but they were cut short once the staff started walking towards us. We took that as our signal to run and headed outside. As I’m now flying home I can’t even remember all the images we made. I can’t wait to be home in front of my computer so I can start on this amazing project! What a fabulous weekend~ I couldn’t have had a better couple to spend it with. I can’t wait for your wedding Ashlee and Ryan, I know it’ll be gorgeous!
